After an accident, safety comes before paperwork. Seek emergency help where necessary and follow police or traffic instructions. Then notify the insurer through an official contact as soon as reasonably possible.
Preserve the basic record
- Policy number and insurer contact details
- Date, time and location
- Photographs of the scene and damage where safe
- Names and contact information of involved parties
- Police or traffic documentation where required
- Repair estimates, invoices and receipts
- Copies of vehicle registration and the driver’s licence
Shikhar’s official support area publishes motor claim forms, showing why customers should use the form and process specified by their own insurer.
Do not assume repairs are authorized
Before non-emergency repairs, ask the insurer whether inspection, survey or prior approval is required. Keep written confirmation. The issued wording controls deadlines and documentation.
Check for common problems
Official insurer FAQs identify licensing, intoxication, ordinary wear and tear and some tyre-only damage as examples that can affect comprehensive claims. Exact wording varies, so read the exclusions in your own policy.
Escalation
Use the insurer’s grievance process first and retain written records. If unresolved, consult the complaint information published by the Nepal Insurance Authority. NepaCompare does not decide claims.
